Campus & Capital Renewal Planning, within Tufts’ Operations Division, supports the goals of the University through the development of both near and long-term plans that enable the strategic use of space and land. As a service entity, Planning’s activities include, for example, collaborating with Schools and Divisions on programming efficient solutions to requests for space, developing projects for implementation by Capital Projects Managers, supporting the development of the University’s capital plan, leading master planning processes, responding to inquiries about existing space use, and providing information in graphic and data format with regard to campus properties. Tufts University is located across four campuses comprised of approximately 250 buildings totaling 5.6 million gross square feet of space.
The Space Planning Analyst will report to the Director of Campus & Capital Renewal Planning and will work in close collaboration with 2-3 architects and planners as well as with key colleagues in Operations Finance and Administration, the Registrar’s office, representatives from each school, and the Finance Division. Operating with a high degree of independence and initiative, this position will be responsible for maintaining, organizing, and archiving the university spatial database, floor plans, maps, surveys, and studies for easy access by the university community and for delivery to outside entities upon approved request. This position utilizes property information to conduct complex data analyses and produces clear data visualizations. Working collaboratively within the Operations division, this position will further develop existing processes for the standardization, collection, storage, and dissemination of Tufts’ property information for improved accuracy, consistency across media (e.g., spatial data and floor plans), and annual archives. A high degree of initiative, attention to details and reliability is required.
Education: Bachelors’ degree in architecture, building construction, planning, library science, business, math or comparable
Technical skills: proficiency in CADD, Revit, and Excel; experience in Adobe Creative Suite, GIS and web management programs
Experience: 2-4 years’ extensive experience in data analysis; preferable in a space planning and/or university setting. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, to work collaboratively as part of the planning team and to handle multiple projects.
Planning experience in higher education or property management preferred.
