The Office of Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) within the Vice President for Research and Economic Development division, is seeking an Assistant Director of Training, who will identify a training strategy to support research administration across the university, oversee its implementation and assess its outcomes.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
Collaborates with functional teams to identify and assess ongoing and future training needs
Designs, plans, and implements training programs and procedures
Deploys a wide variety of training methods
Monitors and evaluates training program’s effectiveness and success periodically and report on them
Resolves any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary
Maintains a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices
Oversees the daily activities of any training associates and consultants
Identify problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve
Delivers and/or facilitates required and recommended training sessions
Ensures that training milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved training budget
Prepares and implements training budget
Performs other related duties as assigned
This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Research Administration. The incumbent is expected to work independently, collaborate with functional staff and academic unit teams, perform duties in a self-sufficient capacity, and provide progress reports to supervisor on a regular basis.
To be successful in this role, you should be a skilled facilitator who is comfortable working with all levels of employees from front-line to senior-level staff. You will routinely work collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the university. It is essential that you foster and promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all interactions. You will need to be flexible to shift with frequently changing priorities and build trusted relationships with a wide variety of constituents at the university.
The SPS office provides leadership in grants and contracts administration from proposal development through closeout, working closely with university faculty to oversee the submission of grant proposals and ensure the responsible stewardship of research funding according to State, University, and sponsor regulations.
