Position Summary

The School of Dental Medicine seeks to fill the position of Instrument Management System (IMS) Manager to supervise the staff in Clinical Dentistry Operations. This role will oversee the instrument sterilization and dispensary operation for both clinical and pre-clinical activities within the Dental School.

As an IMS Manager, your duties include:
    • Supervise Instrument Management System (IMS) staff, including daily work assignments, time-off requests and approval, yearly performance programs and evaluations, and training of new staff. Provide direct assistance to IMS staff as needed.
    • Maintain, manage and update A-Star instrument bar coding system and content, and train IMS staff on clinic management and A-Star computer systems
    • Order supplies for IMS operations, and assist Director of Clinical Operations with ordering
    • Coordinate repair of dental hand-pieces and other dental instruments and equipment
    • Maintain anesthesia records and reports, and coordinate expired products quarterly report and disposal
    • Manage IMS student & Faculty Practice billing and accounts receivable operation and follow-up
    • Maintain current digital images of instrument cassettes. Reformat digital camera cards
    • Liaison with OIR Staff regarding Clinic Management System changes, upgrades, etc.
    • Purchase and maintain Inventory of ADEX and other licensing exam supplies; billing functions of same; assist in preparation and management of same on exam days
    • Maintain inventory of Ortho special training kits
    • Assist Director of Clinical Operations in Compliance, Infection Control, Quality Assurance and other training functions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree
  • 2 or more years of experience with clinic instrument sterilization systems, and dispensaries.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Supervisory experience
    • Related experience in dental school or large dental clinical practice
