Position Summary
The Internships and Experiential Learning (IEL) team, part of the Career Resource Center (CRC), serves undergraduate and graduate students in the UB School of Management preparing for and participating in credit-bearing and non-credit bearing internships. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the IEL Director to establish, implement and administer processes and programs fostering the achievement of internship and experiential learning goals.

The Assistant Director will serve (primarily) undergraduate students across all management concentrations and collaborates with the undergraduate team within the CRC. This role may also serve on committees external to the School of Management and/or UB that are aligned with this focus.

The Assistant Director will provide student advisement, programming, customer service, technical, academic and communication support as follows:
Student advisement: With a focus on undergraduates, advise students regarding internship and experiential learning opportunities, programming, engagement, resources, and development. Meet with students during quick question services and one-on-one appointments to educate, serve and problem solve. Consult with employers inquiring about internships.
Programming support: Collaborate with CRC, school, and UB colleagues to develop and facilitate programs focused on career development and internships. Manage the Sophomore Sites internship program. Create and oversee the activities of student interns, as related to marketing IEL initiatives. Take an active role in the CRC’s career programs and events within the School of Management.
Academic: Help deliver and assess the academic functions of IEL including actionable internship learning agreements, academic registrations, and CPT work authorization requests for international students; review of academic assignments as outlined on the IEL syllabus; and vital communication with students during participation in credit-bearing internships. Engage with the CRC’s undergraduate Career Connections courses including co-design and execution of programs (for example, Internship Week programming) and class presentations.
Technical: Utilize in-house and campus technical systems including BizLink, HUB, UB Learns, and others, to carry out essential functions related to internships. Become a knowledge expert regarding BizLink recruitment system with specific attention to the Experiential Learning module. Assist with evaluating and maintaining the IEL website, ensuring timely and accurate content.
Communication: Collaborate on marketing and communication strategies serving all customers. Create key communications, such as the CareerFeed newsletter, to undergraduate students regarding internship and career development opportunities. Leverage social media engagement in promotion of IEL activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience advising student populations and designing/facilitating student-focused programs and services desired.
Strong comfort level with technology, including database-driven, web-based applications, as well as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Experience with social media, marketing and promotions a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration or Higher Education Administration preferred.
Experience advising student populations and designing/facilitating student-focused programs and services desired.
Awareness of marketing/promotions principles, including social media, a plus.
