Director of Financial Aid
The Office of Financial Aid at Kean University is committed to helping students navigate and understand financial aid processes and provides financial counseling, coordinates financial aid awards and makes aid application and program information available to students and their families. In an effort to combine student-centered support services, the Office of Financial Aid will be realigned and moved under the Division of Student Success and Retention this summer. With this restructuring, our committed team of Financial Aid professionals will continue to work in partnership with other members of the Kean community to provide students and their families with information on all available financial aid options and support them in securing financial aid from enrollment to graduation.
The Director of Financial Aid (Director 2) reports to the Assistant Vice President in the Division of Student Success and Retention and is responsible for the administration of federal, state and institutional funds in accordance with federal and state compliance guidelines and institutional policies and procedures. As the senior manager in the Office of Financial Aid, the Director is responsible for the administration and management of the Office, including oversight of the entire financial aid operation and is responsible for a budget of over $137 million in federal, state, and institutional funds. It is essential that the Director ensures efficient and effective customer service and student support services.
The Director of Financial Aid will be part of a team focused on providing student-centered support and will have the opportunity to shape the structures and processes that support students in accessing financial services. The Director will be a key leader within the Division of Student Success and Retention and must work in collaboration with others across divisions and offices to provide essential student support services and customer service excellence to prospective and current Kean University students, families and alumni. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and four years of progressively responsible management experience in the administration of student aid programs in an agency or institution of higher education is required, preferably within the state of New Jersey. A Master’s degree in a related field, a minimum of five years of professional experience as an administrator in a financial aid office in an institution of higher education and Colleague experience is preferred. Candidates bilingual in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
