What You'll Do

The Associate Director, Communications and Public Relations will lead the Communications and Public Relations team within the Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing office.  This role oversees the day-to-day management of the school’s internal and external communications, including but not limited to the use of social media, the school website, media outreach and various stakeholder communications channels to execute the school’s communications strategy and support its reputational advancement. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Creates, implements, and manages workflow and timelines for the communications and public relations functions of the office;
  • Oversees and leads the creation of institutional and editorial content for all of Fletcher’s communications channels, including but not limited to press releases/press materials, external website, social media, the school intranet, and other internal and external communications channels, to serve the school’s recruitment and reputational objectives;
  • Supervises the management of current incoming media opportunities and works with the Communications Director and current media relations staff to implement a proactive strategy for targeted media outreach; provides oversight of freelance media relations staff currently supporting Fletcher faculty and manages relationships with outside PR agencies engaged to support Fletcher;
  • Manages Fletcher’s relationships with key journalists and publications; identifies and recommends proactive visibility opportunities for Fletcher faculty and students with relevant publications;
  • Supervises the development of organic social media content and the management of all official social media channels; provides strategic guidance on the potential development of new channels;
  • Oversees the preparation and delivery of department reports, including but not limited to a monthly communications report to the Office of the Dean and the preparation of special media exposure reports as requested;
  • Supervises the preparation, management and reporting of global media/social media monitoring and key data analytics to gauge performance and engagement;
  • With the Director, prepares, manages, and oversees the execution of Fletcher’s crisis communications plan;
  • Manages Fletcher’s photography and video inventories; supplements current photo and video libraries to support new brand positioning as needed.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

 

Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight (6-8) years in a senior Communications role. 
  • Significant prior experience working with faculty as well as working relationships with press contacts in the Boston area.
  • Proven success managing and building a robust social media following and optimizing social media engagement and demonstrated success leveraging social media to advance institutional objectives.
  • Experience leveraging video as a communications tool and managing video ideation and production processes.
  • Strong management skills, with the ability to supervise and direct activities of both on site and remote staff as needed, including experience working with PR /reputation firms and other related service providers.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with international press, executing international communications strategies strongly preferred
  • Experience working with global reputation/PR firms.
  • Experience writing executive communications for senior leadership strongly preferred.
  • Experience working across time zones and cultures strongly preferred.


Pay Range

Minimum $84,400.00, Midpoint $105,550.00, Maximum $126,700.00
 

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
