The University at Buffalo, Department of Pediatrics,
Division of Infectious Diseases, is looking for a Research Technician 2 who can take charge of projects. We are a lab that focuses on antibody responses and immunity. Performing laboratory assays, recording results, presenting results to PI and lab group for eventual publication in scientific manuscripts. Technical aspects encompass the processing of human samples, isolating PBMCs and plasma and then performing a variety of techniques on the samples.
Experiments we rely heavily on include:
- ELISA assays
- RNA isolation
- Rt-PCR
- magnetic cell separation
- cell culture
- phage library screening with monoclonal antibodies and plasma
- PBMC isolation from human blood
- processing deep sequencing data from samples
Funding for this position is currently supported by American Heart Association and Infectious Diseases Society of America, and is assured for two years - perfect for a post-bach experience on the way to medical or graduate school. A solid molecular biology background and the desire and ability to learn new skills quickly will serve you well in this position.
