POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The mission of the Custodial Services Department is to provide innovative approaches and outstanding customer service, while delivering a clean, sanitary, and safe environment, in a cost-efficient manner. The department also prepares and maintains campus facilities for athletics and approved special events.

 

The custodial staff is responsible for cleaning the buildings at the Main Campus, Chico Center, Skyway Center, and the Glenn Center. The primary work location for this position will be the Main Campus. Depending on District need, work may also be required at the various satellite campuses.

 

Work Schedule

The current work schedule will be either Monday through Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. OR Tuesday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday, 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Over the summer, the schedule changes to either Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with Friday off OR Tuesday through Friday 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., with Saturday off (See CSEA 15.11 for shift differential compensation). The work schedules may vary depending upon District need, and may include overtime, work on weekends and holidays (CSEA 8.7.4), and on-call shifts (CSEA 15.13).

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalent*; AND 
  • One (1) year of general experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this class.

*High School education equivalency equals an adult education diploma or four (4) years of full-time paid work experience.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.
  • Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that they are free of active tuberculosis.
  • As a condition of employment, the District requires that you provide fingerprints prior to beginning work. You may be fingerprinted at Butte College Human Resources by appointment, or you may be fingerprinted at another agency. Should you be fingerprinted at another agency, the rolling fee charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the fingerprint report is the employee's responsibility at the time of printing.
