Graduate Program Coordinator, Computer Science – School of Engineering – (20001395)
The primary activities of the Departments of Computer Science (CS) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) are teaching undergraduate and graduate students and conducting research. Both departments are highly research active with multiple locations, including the main departmental offices in Halligan Hall and research lab and office spaces at 196 and 200 Boston Ave as well as 4 Colby St. The CS department has an annual operational budget (institutional and grant) totaling over $20 million while that of ECE is over $15 million. Within CS, undergraduate enrollments have increased dramatically over the past several years, from 35 graduating seniors in 2010 to ~150 in May 2018. CS recently surpassed the Departments of Economics and International Relations as the biggest major across the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. ECE has 84 undergraduate students with the majority in our two accredited programs in Electrical Engineering (56) and Computer Engineering (28). Among our MS programs in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Material Science, ECE enrolls 96 students. The PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering has 47 enrollees.
This position is split 75/25 between the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Program Coordinator will provide administrative support for the Master’s programs across both departments. They will handle complex and confidential situations and requests and serve in a highly visible capacity as a resource for the department with students, staff, faculty and other constituents. In addition to the support to the CS and ECE Master’s programs (including managing the admissions process, tracking the progress of students towards the degree, and providing answers to routing advising questions), they will support the PhD and certificate programs for CS.
High school diploma/GED and 5+ years of administrative experience OR a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including word processing, editing and graphics functions, spreadsheets, and database knowledge.
Excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills.
