Department Summary
Risk Management Services’ programs provide proactive support for the strategic, operational, and financial foundation of the University of North Texas. We help identify, analyze, and mitigate risks to prevent loss and provide a safe and healthy campus environment so that the UNT community can freely pursue opportunities for growth and advancement. To achieve our goals, we work together with the UNT community to help them proactively manage risks, implement preventative measures, plan for their challenges, and work through any issues that occur.

Position Overview
Serves as the UNT Asbestos Management Planner, responsible for coordinating the asbestos program ensuring compliance with all aspects related to asbestos control programs. Serves as the Lead Base Paint Inspector for UNT. Works with EPA, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Texas Department of State Health Services to ensure UNT compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and four years of experience in asbestos safety
inspections and emergency response; or any combination of education, training, and
experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to substantiate results from reports using spreadsheets and analysis.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Ability to provide incident response.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
    relating to area of assignment.
  • Ability to obtain and retain appropriate certifications and licensing.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred License: Texas Certified Asbestos Project Manager, Texas Certified Asbestos Management Planner, mold assessment consultant
Minimum License: Texas Certified Asbestos Inspector
Required License / Registration / Certification
Preferred License: Texas Certified Asbestos Project Manager, Texas Certified Asbestos Management Planner, mold assessment consultant
