The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is actively recruiting a Nurse Practitioner (NP). The NP will be available to the private medical service to initiate the evaluation of patients being seen in the office for Long Covid evaluation; and participate in certain other activities of the WNY Long Covid Recovery Center as specified by Dr. J. Abeles and Dr. S. Sethi.

Essential Functions:
  • Examine patients, 18 years of age or older, to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Initiate the evaluation of patients with chronic and acute medical problems, gathering appropriate data through history, ordering of appropriate tests (i.e. chest x-rays, laboratory tests, EKG’s, etc.). Following appropriate data collection and evaluation, he/she will relay findings to the Long Covid Recovery group and decisions will be made regarding the care of the patient.
  • Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance related to Long Covid symptoms and possibly other symptoms that are identified during the evaluation.
  • Perform certain other assignments as determined by Dr. J. Abeles and Dr. S. Sethi including, but not limited to, participation in departmental conferences, providing assistance, appropriate to level of training, at the WNY Long Covid Recovery Center and participation in the research and quality assurance efforts of the department.
  • Functions as a member of clinical team in maintaining patient flow and maximizing the delivery of quality care to patients.
  • Emphasizes health promotion and/or disease prevention through patient education and coordination of care.
  • Review and address all assigned items related to documentation, tasking, and results within the EHR.
  • Completed all documentation and billing related to encounters no later than 5 business days from the date of service.
  • Assist with tracking or documenting any quality measures relating to the WNY Long Covid Recovery Center and UB Co V Registry project.
  • Responsible for reviewing company email on a daily basis.
  • Discuss with onsite Physician should any questions arise that fall outside the comfort level of the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant.
