Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences Educational Technology (CASet) is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Linux/Mac Support Specialist. This position will work with department faculty and staff within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo.
As the Linux/Mac Support Specialist, you will:
Deploy, configure, and support Linux servers and workstations, both physical and virtual, used by CAS faculty, staff, and students.
Deploy, configure, and support macOS and iOS devices used by CAS faculty, staff, and students.
Employ best practices to automate the configuration and management of Linux and Mac systems and services.
Monitor Linux systems to ensure maximum reliability and availability.
Collaborate within and across University units to integrate Linux and Mac systems into a mixed operating environment.
Author, produce, and maintain technical reference documentation for users and IT staff

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
3 year’s experience in Linux systems administration (Apache, MySQL, Kerberos, SSO, Active Directory), Linux/Unix scripting technologies (bash, Python, php, Perl), Linux configuration management technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and JAMF Pro administration for macOS/iOS devices.
Experience supporting VDI/VMWare environment.
Highly effective writing/verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
5 year’s experience in Linux/Unix scripting technologies (bash, Python, php, Perl) and Linux configuration management technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Understanding of higher education institutional, academic and business interdependencies.
