Campus Living invites applications for the Janitor position. In this role, you will perform cleaning and general janitorial services in Campus Living’s facilities. Your duties will include:
Clean and service buildings by sweeping and mopping offices, halls, stairways, and other units
Wax and buff floors
Gather and dispose of refuse
Service lavatories and fixtures
Clean lighting fixtures, replace light bulbs, and wash windows
Move furniture and equipment as applicable
Assist with sweeping walks, shoveling snow
Supervise the work of other staff as applicable; provide day-to-day assignments
Respond to requests and the emergency need for janitorial services

Campus Living, a unit within the division of Student Life, serves to provide the best residential living experience for students at the University at Buffalo. Campus Living offers quality, affordable and desirable campus housing in support of the university’s mission. Campus Living is comprised of 13 residence halls and five apartment complexes accommodating 8,000 residents on the North and South Campuses. Approximately 5,800 students reside in the residence halls and 2,200 students reside in the apartment complexes. Campus Living is comprised of 210 professional and classified staff with a total operating budget of $70m.

Departmental Operating Needs
A NYS driver’s license or demonstrated ability to meet the travel requirement of traveling between campuses as necessary
The ability to quickly and appropriately respond to situations that require janitorial services
Since the activities of other employees depend on the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.
Must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and communicate orally and in writing to exchange information.
Institutional cleaning experience is preferred.
Excellent attendance record and documented experience in supervising others.
A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS.
Routine tasks require light, moderate and/or heavy effort.
Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds.
Must have the ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for long periods of time.
