Position Summary

The Insurance and Claims Analyst will assist the Director by providing support and assistance with regards to the University's casualty and property insurance renewal, handling automobile liability, first and third party property damage claims, and managing vendor insurance compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director with the insurance renewal process including securing, assessing, and evaluating exposure information from University departments to provide the necessary underwriting information to prospective insurers to provide renewal quotes and options to University.
  • Manages auto liability and first and third party property damage claims from reporting to appropriate insurer through claim closure.
  • Collects certificate of insurance from vendors. Reviews certificates for compliance with University contract requirements to ensure vendors have adequate coverage. Maintains current certificates of insurance for University preferred vendors.
  • Serves as a specialized resource to staff, faculty and students on issues related to insurance coverage.
  • Maintains Insurance & Risk Management website.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Insurance & Risk Management.




Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage and claims handling procedures.
  • Minimum of 3 years insurance experience required. Experience in a non-profit or higher education environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to organize and prioritize a large volume of work, detail oriented, ability to interact with faculty and staff at all levels, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent PC knowledge, ability to use Internet, Email, Outlook, Banner Finance, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Frontpage for Website updates.
