$18.81 per hour or higher depending on education and experience
This position is responsible for managing the Polya Center Staff, which involves the recruitment, hiring and firing, training, supervising, and scheduling of around 30 math tutors at the Polya Mathematics Learning Center. Responsibilities also include providing support to faculty, staff, and students by proctoring, grading, and inputting student written work, recording student scores within the Polya Database, and responding to student emails. This person will also assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the Polya Database and all other software used in the Polya Center and will create and send weekly grade reports to various departments on campus. This position serves as the immediate supervisor of the Polya Administrative Coordinator, as well as the immediate supervisor of all Math 108, Math 143, Math 144, Math 160, Math 170 and Math 175 tutors. This position will also surplus hardware and other supplies as needed. This position is an 11-month position, with one month off during the summer from mid-May through mid-June.
Completion of at least 23 credit hours of mathematics, including three semesters of calculus.
Experience working in a team environment.
Minimum of 1 year experience tutoring students in mathematics at the collegiate level.
Experience presenting information clearly and concisely to individuals, small, and large groups.
Experience interpreting and applying standards and regulations.
B.S. in Mathematics or related field.
Completion of a variety of upper-division mathematics courses.
Experience tutoring students in Math 108 (Intermediate Algebra), Math 143 (Pre-Calculus), and Math 144 (Trigonometry).
Experience tutoring Calculus.
Experience using MyLabsPlus, MyMathLab, and MathXL software.
Experience working in the Polya Mathematics Center and familiar with the Polya Mathematics Center philosophy and operation.
Experience motivating, encouraging, and supporting students to recognize their potential and meet challenges.
