Student Media Coordinator

Supervised by the Director of Communications and Marketing for Student Affairs, the Student Media Coordinator (Professional Services Specialist III) is responsible for the supervision of daily operations and production of The Cougar’s Byte online student news publication and the Memorabilia yearbook. The Student Media Coordinator coordinates the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of graduate and undergraduate student staff members in the areas of writing, editing, graphic design, photography and video production to promote and highlight all aspects of the Kean University student experience. The Student Media Coordinator also assists with other marketing and communication initiatives for the Division.  This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including regular evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college; two years of professional experience in an institution of higher education or in education, higher education or other field that is directly related to communications or marketing; and experience in leading and supervising a team is required. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge, skill and understanding of print, digital and website management and publishing for a higher education institution or equivalent brand; and have technical skills including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, HTML, photo editing and social media. Degree major in English, Journalism, Communication, Graphic Design, Marketing or a related field and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver), Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Anthology (formerly Campus Labs) Engage and Ellucian Colleague is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills are essential.
