Department & Administrative Services Manager – Executive Administrative Dean’s Office, School of Arts and Sciences – (21001835)
The Executive Administrative Dean’s Office of Arts and Sciences is responsible for the overall administrative functions of the School. The Dean’s Office oversees the School’s academic departments, the teaching and research enterprises, student services, and facilities. Functions include financial and strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource management, and facility management and renovations.
The Department and Administrative Services Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Administration and supports the Office of the Executive Administrative Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences in two primary roles: The first function of the role is to fill in as a floating department manager. The Dean’s office will allocate this position’s time to a department or departments in instances of staff turnover or extended absences or to provide support for other specific project needs. The role will cover all aspects of a Department Manager role including supervising department staff, monitoring budget and space needs, approving and transacting business expenses. The second main function of the role will be to work on recurring EAD office duties and special projects, including supporting questions and approvals for A&S department administrators and staff on financial, HR, and other administrative questions, and to lead and manage ad hoc and periodic recurring projects related to budget, space planning and hiring processes.
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of experience working in a complex business environment.
Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrable experience with Excel required.
Strong budget, financial and supervisory experience.
