The Web Specialist oversees, designs, and manages media and communication for Career Services. The Web Specialist recommends and implement web-based career development platforms, such as those to identify potential fields of employment or databases for internship or job searches. S/he will design and implement the Career Services website, with consideration of increasing functionality and attracting attention to digital career services resources as well as other offered resources. S/he will also have primary responsibility for collection and reporting of a wide range of analytics related to Career Services. This is anticipated as a 5-year term position, with potential for renewal based on further needs, performance, and funding.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
Develops short-term and long-term digital media strategy and social media strategy.
Creates, curates, and manages Career Services digital media including:
Internally and externally facing websites relevant to career opportunities.
Web-based platforms for career exploration and development.
Creating and managing databases and links to career development resources.
Creating and managing databases and links to employment and internship opportunities.
Creating content and messaging for the school’s social media profiles
Audiovisual content, such as videos.
Coordinate with School’s Alumni Affairs office for career data.
Works closely with other School Communications staff to implement seamless integration into the School’s overall web and media presence.
Provides recommendations to Career Services, Communications and School leadership for incorporation of digital media into the delivery of career services.
Evaluates and recommends digital media platforms.
Works with internal and external digital service providers to create and launch new digital platforms.
Evaluates, recommends, and executes web design and content based on best practices.
Expands functionality of current portals to increase use of web-based career service resources.
Develops tailored career development and career search options for students based on interests and fields of study.
Designs, implements, analyzes, and reports analytics, such as:
User feedback regarding utility and ease of use.
Usage rates of digital Career Services resources.
Surveys of students, employers and other stakeholders as requested by other Career Services staff.
Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing or similar field.
5 years of directly related experience (e.g. digital media, digital marketing, web management or similar) in higher education.
Excellent communication skills.
