Human Resources Generalist
St. Edward's University is seeking a collaborative and energizing HR Generalist to join the Human Resources team. This HR Generalist plays a key role in helping the department achieve its objectives in support of the university's mission. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day operations and hands-on-approach for the HR function in the areas of employee development, training, employee relations, compliance, immigration, in an expeditious, evolving environment.
For consideration, a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field is required. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification is preferred. Four years of experience in human resources; education or higher education field preferred. Broad knowledge of all areas of Human Resources is required. Sound understanding of employment practices, employee development, training, and employee relations. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Ability to quickly learn new technology and is self-motivated to stay current with emerging technologies. Knowledge of Banner or other HRIS systems. Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, organizational, leadership and training skills, etc. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skill with employees and all levels of management; able to create a working environment of open communication and trust. Working knowledge of company HR policies and procedures and state and federal employment laws. Experience with visa administration process for F, J, and H visas preferred. Knowledge of federal, state and local employment law and regulations. Detail-oriented and possess a strong work ethic. Ability to exercise and apply sound judgment and decision making skills as well as the ability to maintain integrity and high confidentiality. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and accept supervision, assignments, change and correction. Proven effectiveness in dealing with a wide range of professionals, staff, and administrators. Ability to contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds in accordance with the Holy Cross Mission.
