Under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director of the Exceptional Educational Opportunities Program, the Recruitment/Admissions Counselor and Internship Coordinator (Professional Services Specialist III) is responsible for assisting with professional responsibilities related to the supervision, implementation, coordination, research, assessment and evaluation of the Recruitment, Admissions, Financial Aid and Internship components of the Program. The Recruitment/Admissions Counselor and Internship Coordinator assists the Associate Director in developing recruitment strategies; training staff; interpretation of state and federal financial aid rules and regulations and university financial aid policies and procedures; develops and delivers a robust portfolio of internship related services, including outreach to employers and campus partners, as well as direct service to students through workshops and events; and does other related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours and is partially funded by a grant through the State of New Jersey. Future employment is contingent upon supporting grant funds.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in higher education providing student support services specific to recruitment, admissions or internship coordination/placement is required. Candidates with established partnerships and alliances with governmental entities and the business community for potential student internships are preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills are essential.
