Job Description Summary:
To manage the operations and promote the learning community at the assigned Career & Transfer Center.

Job Description:

*Description of Duties and Tasks*Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Career & Transfer Center(s) ensuring that students are served, equipment is functioning, and an open, warm, engaging and encouraging learning environment is projected for students and faculty.
  • Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates the performance of staff, hourly workers, and work study personnel.
  • Schedules and manages Career & Transfer Center rooms and space assignments in conjunction with other campus schedulers and supervises day-to-day operations.
  • Provides information about Career & Transfer services & resources to faculty, staff, students, and community groups and/or community representatives.
  • Answers inquiries and resolves problems regarding programs, student support services, campus events, and scheduled Career & Transfer activities.
  • Assists in the development of Career & Transfer Center operational policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates, hosts, and supports Career & Transfer program events at the center by providing event coordination, team communication, and event follow-up.
  • Coordinates the development of reports and other analytics regarding student interactions at the Career & Transfer Center including attendance, goal attainment, interventions, etc.
  • Serves as a liaison with various academic departments and external partners (University & Employer recruiters) utilizing the Career & Transfer Center under the direction of the Directors, Career Resources & Transfer Resources.
  • Assists staff & faculty with workshops, activities, and the creation of learning communities at the Career & Transfer Center.
  • May assist other student success initiatives with special projects or assignments.
  • Provides career- and transfer-related services under the guidance of the Directors of Career Resources & Transfer Resources. Supports staff in providing specialized strategies to help students, alumni, and entering student applicants select a career and/or academic pathway and implement a plan to achieve their identified goals including graduation, transfer, and/or entering the workforce. Assists students with preparation for, and execution of, university transfer and job search.
  • Applies specialized career coaching expertise to meet the unique needs of identified populations such as veterans, students with disabilities, and individuals with background challenges (incarceration, felony, lengthy employment gaps, etc.), limited career- and transfer-related awareness, and/or re-careering for various other reasons.
  • Interprets and applies college policies and procedures related to departmental functions and service delivery.

Required Work Experience

  • Two years related work experience including one year supervisory experience.
  • Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program will satisfy the supervisory experience required for this position.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in an office or indoor environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.


  • Supervise safe operation of unit. Facilitate safety inspections. Take reasonable and prudent actions to eliminate identified hazards. Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and foster a workplace safety culture.

Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty and Administrators Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
