Auburn University Libraries is seeking an Information Technology Specialist skilled in software configuration, data loading, software programming, and other computing support for electronic information resources. We are looking for someone who thrives in a changing technical environment and is flexible, curious, and creative. This position is part of the Technical Services Department, will report to the Collections Strategist and Acquisitions Librarian, and work collaboratively with the other Informational Technology Specialist IV – Electronic Resources Application Specialist in the Department, as well as the Electronic Resources & Discovery Librarian. The successful candidate will also collaborate with other members of the Department and Systems Department staff as needed.
The primary job responsibilities include technical support for electronic resources management, troubleshooting online access problems, contributing to the investigation and implementation of new software systems used in Technical Services, and providing technical support for Webscale Discovery as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to provide programming support for various electronic information resources maintenance, data loading, and platform optimizations. Skills relevant to software configuration and troubleshooting online access problems are highly desirable. Other duties may include participating in the work of electronic resources assessment, customization of database platforms, metadata cleanup and contributing to the overall computing needs of the Technical Services Department.Given current needs in the Department, the Information Technology Specialist will also work in collaboration with other Libraries personnel to conduct reports necessary for the management of print materials in the Libraries, including circulation statistics, inventory reports, location, lost book reports, and approvals checks. Systems support for Interlibrary Loan will include reports and updates for OCLC holdings, RapidILL updates and holdings, and helping to gather other information as needed.
