Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. Since 1985, we have offered high quality medical care, consultation, referral, and emergency veterinary services for the care of dogs, cats and exotic pets. What You'll Do
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University invites applications for a Patient Coordinator in the Surgery Department. While primarily focused in all aspects of the surgical department, this position will work closely with the Anesthesia, Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine Departments and other services. The Patient Coordinator will have a unique role in patient care, helping to coordinate all members of the health care team and act as the surgical patient’s advocate throughout their hospitalization. The Patient Coordinator will help minimize any miscommunication that may happen when a patient’s care involves multiple services. In addition to helping coordinate day-to-day operations, this person will be a centralized point of contact for the different departments for future surgical cases. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of common surgical conditions and have excellent communication and organizational skills.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of client/customer service experience in animal care environment
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. with or without accommodation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
- Ability to work independently, and within a team
- Remain calm under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This position requires working evenings and weekends, with 7 weeks/year of daytime rotations.
