Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Scholarly Communication Technician for the Hunt Library at the Daytona Beach campus. The Scholarly Communication Technician provides technical support to the Scholarly Communication department. This position’s primary responsibility is data entry in support of faculty and student contributions to Scholarly Commons. Other duties include data entry of open educational resources, conferences, and journals, as well as Scholarly Commons system backup, and customer service support at the Borrow Desk. Hours generally Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.

Responsibilities include the following:

Support faculty and student submissions to Scholarly Commons.
Add faculty submissions to Scholarly Commons
Add student submissions to Scholarly Commons
Research copyright permissions as directed
Develop and maintain marketing and promotional materials
Monitor DB Commons email account and triage messages

Support open educational resources submissions to Scholarly Commons.
Assist OER librarian in organizing and displaying OERs in Scholarly Commons.
Take and distribute minutes of OER Team meetings
Update OER holdings in Scholarly Commons as directed

Support conferences, journals, and technical work in Scholarly Commons.
Provide backup to Scholarly Commons Administrator on the system back end
Assist with journal publishing as directed
Assist with conferences and events as directed

Assist in the Access Services Department.
Provide customer service at the Borrow Desk one morning per week, as assigned
Fill in at the Borrow Desk during staff outages
Participate in the 24/5 exam schedule on the Borrow Desk as assigned


Required Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or completion of program of 18+ months after high school.
Minimum of 1-3 years of work related experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Library experience preferred.
