The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life prepares Tufts students to become active citizens and community leaders. What You'll Do

This is a part-time position at 28 hours per week. 

 

The position reflects a partnership between the Tisch College of Civic Life and the Tufts University School of Medicine. The Civic Life Coordinator will provide advanced support and coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Civic Life programming at the School of Medicine.  This student-facing role will consist of coordinating the (CSL) program engaging all MD students in completing their 50 hour CSL curricular requirement creating mutually beneficial community partnerships, maximizes civic learning, and celebrates success.  

 

The Civic Life Coordinator will support both MD and MPH students’ participation in community engagement, meeting regularly with students for advisement and educational programming; organizing and maintaining information regarding community partnerships and student completion of CSL requirement; designing and updating applications or other forms;  maintaining relationships with community partners and promoting volunteer opportunities;  developing opportunities for continued learning, leadership development, and reflection and coordinating logistics for such meetings and events; involved in the Med School Honos Civicus Society and Tisch Summer Fellows Programs; updating website and developing marketing and communication materials; collaborating with other departments focused on community-engagement and diversity, equity, and inclusion work; and, serving as a resource for students and faculty engaged in community-based work.   The position will be physically based at the School of Medicine on the Boston campus.                                                                                                                                         


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with service learning, civic engagement, and/or community service
  • Passion for working with students
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in addressing health inequities and promoting health justice
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience working with students
  • Familiarity with community organizations, nonprofits, K-12 educational settings
  • Comfort with balancing a range of responsibilities that involve interpersonal and administrative work

 

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

  • Mostly a standard work schedule except for occasional special events, ideally some travel to community partner sites (Boston and possibly Maine).
