Overview

The Department of Diagnostic Sciences at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine is a heterogenous department including multiple divisions. The Patient Registration Coordinator will work primarily with the Divisions of Oral Medicine, Craniofacial Pain, and Oral Pathology. The department is dedicated to the assessment and treatment of oral conditions in medically compromised patients, including Sjogren Syndrome and dry mouth, mucosal disorders, temporomandibular disorders, and chronic head, neck and facial pain. 


What You'll Do

Under limited supervision, the Patient Registration Coordinator provides excellent customer service, greets patients, inputs and/or verifies patient information, obtains consents, responds to patient inquiries, and schedules and confirms patient appointments to maximize clinic space and enters approved patient treatment plans.  He/She performs financial functions (collects payment, makes adjustments to patient accounts) and provides administrative support, and requests prior authorization for prescriptions as needed. Performs other related duties to assist in the management of the department.

 

 

 


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • High school degree/equivalency and 1+ years of job related experience
  • In depth knowledge of dental/medical software codes, Microsoft Office and dental terminology.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with sterile technique and assisting various specialties.
  • Sound knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance regarding infection control, blood borne pathogens, sterilization, and radiology. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will allow clear and businesslike conversation with patients, students, residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Should be well organized with a keen attention to detail.
