General Summary: The Program Transition/Retention Coordinator will support students from the CCAC- AGH RN Collaborative. Many of these students may be academically and psycho-socially challenged to actively and successfully negotiate systems that drive post-secondary education environments and must be managed with early intervention initiatives that will provide on-going and consistent academic support and counseling services in order to increase student success. The Program Transition/Retention Coordinator will help students to successfully navigate through each phase of the program, from admission to the program through graduation. The Program Transition/Retention Coordinator will plan and implement retention training sessions to include but not limited to resilience training, test-taking strategies, problematic content areas, and student success strategies. In addition, the Program Transition/Retention Coordinator provides personalized retention interventions and monitors students weekly to provide life-skills strategies to help students achieve success.

The Program Transition/Retention Coordinator serves as an official representative of CCAC and as such, shall promote a positive first impression by adopting and demonstrating a collegial, client-relations based approach to students, faculty/staff, employers, and other stakeholders within the College community and our partner organizations.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Preference may be given to individuals who possess a Master's degree. Three years' experience providing instruction and/or counseling to adult learners in a higher education setting. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

1. Work with the Nursing Administration, Admissions, and the Registration and Advisement Office in developing, coordinating and implementing placement testing, registration, orientation and post-orientation programs with these students. To that end, will meet with students on an on-going basis to ensure that students understand the expectations of the program and adhere to programmatic requirements. 3. Monitors student attendance and academic progress. Tracks student participation in mandatory cohort activities and the use of academic support services.
4. Create and manage a Program Early Warning System in order to identify academically - challenge college students in all Program courses; works with the Student Success Coaches and other Student Development Staff to meet early intervention measures when necessary 5. Provide on-going academic support by creating cohort subgroups for problematic content study sessions. 6. Conducts one on one scheduled meetings with cohort students 3 times a semester before classes begin, at midterms, and after finals.
7. Provide on-going counseling/referrals to assist students with non-academic concerns that hinder academic success. 8. Plan and implement retention training sessions as needed in both group and individual formats to provide students with critical thinking skills, resilience/confidence training, study success strategies, and student success approaches.
9. Create personalized retention plans and monitor student progress. 10. Coordinate and monitor mentoring for members in each cohort.
11. Report weekly retention strategies with supporting evidence of student success.
12. Develop further resiliency initiatives and student-focused retention activities based on success data. 13. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
