Position Summary
Working collaboratively with school leadership, departments, program directors, faculty, students, staff, alumni, and external partners to advance equity, diversity and inclusion in the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP). This includes providing support for the continual improvement and execution of the SPHHP equity, diversity, and inclusion strategic plan.

Supporting the overall community and alumni engagement activities of the School of Public Health and Health Professions. Responsibilities will focus on engaging UB graduates, students and faculty and community partners with the goal of building and sustaining meaningful relationships that will help to advance the school and its’ mission.

Duties include:

The School of Public Health and Health Professions has an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council (EDI Council) with multiple working groups. The individual in this position will coordinate the EDI Council meetings, provide administrative support to working groups, keep meeting minutes and records, managing communication related to the Council and provide assistance to working group projects as needed.
Planning, creating, and managing communications related to EDI activities both to internal and external audiences.
Help design and facilitate anti-bias and discrimination trainings.
Providing administrative support for existing equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives such as awarding diversity scholarships (coordinating the nomination process, coordinating award letters, record keeping); invited speaker events, trainings, and pathway programs, general support to the associate dean for equity, diversity, and inclusion. The position may also involve supervising student assistants.
Leading the production of the annual diversity report (e.g., coordinating efforts to extract and analyze data with the school data analyst, record keeping, graphic design.
Design and implement programs, events, activities for alumni, students, faculty, friends and community partners to encourage engagement and build long-term relationships. Events could be school-wide and/or department focused. This will include the management of the SPHHP alumni mentoring program.
Collaborate with UB Office of Alumni Engagement, SPHHP Philanthropy Staff, and other UB departments on university-wide activities that will engage the SPHHP alumni and community partners with the entire university.
Collaborate with and make direct contributions to SPHHP’s accreditation teams and other school based administrative groups as needed (for example – helping to distribute on-line alumni surveys to recent graduates).
Maintain SPHHP alumni, student and community engagement activity and information within the university-wide alumni database (AWA) and, as appropriate, the school’s community partner database.
Develop and disseminate school’s communication materials related to alumni and community activities to both internal and external audiences (collaborating with the PHHP marketing and communications staff.)
Supervise student assistants and student volunteers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and experience working not-for-profit or corporate organization.

Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree and 6 months experience working on diversity and inclusion efforts within a higher education or 6 months’ experience working in either community relations, alumni relations or event management within higher education.
Experience using software to create email and social media communications and reports (e.g., Mail Chimp, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
Experience working in a higher education setting.
