Program Administrator – Center for STEM Diversity, School of Engineering – (21001387)
The Center for STEM Diversity (CSD) at Tufts University is an umbrella organization that develops best practices and creates new programming designed to increase recruitment and retention of underrepresented students in both the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. The Center interfaces with undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and staff via events, workshops, and collaborative leadership. The CSD focuses on strengthening meaningful student participation in science and engineering fields, specifically for traditionally underrepresented populations including women, African Americans, Native Americans, the LGBTQ community, and those who identify as Hispanic and/or Latinx, as well as students of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and undocumented status. Currently, the Center operates three internal programs: Bridge to Engineering Success at Tufts (BEST), STEM Ambassadors, and Redefining the Image of Science and Engineering (RISE). The CSD is also a member of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant through the National Science Foundation (NSF). With the support of this grant, the CSD manages a program, supporting students who are interested in research.
