Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of related experience in research administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

  • Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment
  • Ability to work with diverse customers internal and external to DORED
  • Ability to work independently and see projects through to successful completion
  • Familiarity with Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations and sponsored programs management in a higher education environment
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in performing assignments

Requires strong organizational skills, an orientation for details, excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Individual must be organized, detailed oriented, able to multitask, have strong communication and customer service skills, work independently but also serve as a productive member of the ORSPM team, and trustworthy to handle sensitive grant related documents and keep information confidential.

Required License or Certification

Primary Purpose of Position
Proposal Development:

  • Provide highly developed knowledge and expertise on proposal development support
    for complex proposals, including but not limited to: assisting in the preparation of various sponsor application forms and packages; organizing and managing pink/red team evaluations and assessments; creating and managing virtual shared workspaces; developing and adhering to a proposal development schedules; and monitoring proposal development performance;
  • Develop a working knowledge of NCA&T’s research expertise and capabilities in order to prepare and update Capability statements collaboration and partnerships;
  • Sending funding announcements to faculty and staff as needed;
  • Collecting general proposal and supporting documents in response to solicitations;

Limited Submission and Competition Space:

  • Research, identify, assess, and catalog limited submission funding opportunities from a range of funding sources, including federal, state, and private foundation funders;
  • Disseminate information on limited submission funding opportunities and procedures to NCA&T’s research community;
  • Assist with coordination/logistics of internal limited submission processes, including announcement of opportunities, organization of internal competitions, and organization and coordination of review and selection processes using Competition Space/InfoReady software;
  • Monitor, track, and archive limited submission ┬Čassociated activity and metrics, including proposal submissions and award information; and
  • Manage InfoReady/Competition Space, funding opportunities, and program metrics and outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Coordination/Planning

  • Provide support in the areas of communication, logistics, preparation of materials and follow-up for training seminars, events, visitors, workshops, etc.
  • Collaborates with other administrators in the preparation of needed materials for meetings and reports, review of policies, and transmits requirements with time-frames to administrators.
  • Provides administrative support for efforts to increase faculty engagement in sponsored programs, advance collaborations and improve competitiveness of grant proposals

The Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED) manages N.C. A&T’s research enterprise. DORED provides services to faculty and student researchers, to current and potential research partners, funding agencies, and economic development agencies.rant proposals
