Overview

Established in 1981, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is the only graduate and professional school of nutrition in North America. Its mission is to improve the nutritional well-being of people worldwide through the creation of new knowledge, application and dissemination of evidence-based information and education and training of future leaders in the field. 

The Project Manager will support the Supporting Physical Literacy at School and Home (SPLASH) Study. SPLASH is a five-year research study co-led by Dr. Erin Hennessy and Dr. Jennifer Sacheck (George Washington University) and is designed to increase children’s physical literacy as well as their total daily physical activity. Funded by the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, the SPLASH study will design and test an innovative program to reach children both at school and home to increase their physical activity.


What You'll Do

In coordination with the investigators, under the supervision of the principal investigators, and in conjunction with other staff, this position will:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the study, including recruitment and retention of schools, data collection, collaboration with New York Road Runners, and communication between study schools and research staff.
  • Assist in the development of data collection instruments and other study materials and will assist the investigators in manuscript preparation and publication.
  • Develops goals and strategies for project in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
  • Implements plans and evaluates progress; refines plans or changes policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Develops and oversees data management and filing systems and oversees entry and maintenance of data and data collection forms.
  • Manages and analyzes budgets and prepares reports and projections.
  • Assists the Principal Investigator in writing grants and proposals for new funding opportunities or continued support.
  • Designs, and may deliver, seminars, lectures and other special events.
  • Conducts research and drafts reports and results
  •    Presents information and results to management, constituents, and sponsors
  •  


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, exercise physiology or related discipline
  • Experience: clinical/human subjects research experience preferred
  • Knowledge/Skills: knowledge of clinical trials, IRB protocols and human subjects’ research; clinical trial recruitment, data collection; school-based interventions; physical activity assessment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or MS/MPH
