Intern, Technical Writing Web (Temporary)

Job Description Summary:
With supervision, will perform general administrative duties and/or research functions for the purpose of developing a working knowledge of a specific area of study.

Job Description:

Purpose: *The Technical Writing Web Intern will assist with editing, updating, and testing web projects such as the TLED website, ACC Catalog, Faculty Handbook, and more. The Technical Writing Web Intern can expect to gain introductory experience in strategic communications, including: content strategy, WordPress, and Google Suite. This internship can count towards ACC course credits.
Location: *(currently remote) ACC Highland Business Center, 5930 Middle Fiskville Rd, Austin, TX 78752

Serve as a junior editor for Faculty Communications with a focus on editing for the web.

Reviewing webpage functionality and accessibility.

Assist Web Content Strategist with various tasks.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Reports to: *Manager, Instructional Communication
Length of Appointment: Start ASAP – May 2022*
Time Commitment: Flexible during typical working hours (M-F, 7am-6pm). Minimum 15 hours/week maximum 19 hours/week. A few evening and weekend hours might be required. *
Compensation: $15.60/hour*
Skills/Qualifications: *Applicants must be professional, creative, team-oriented, self-starters who have an eye for detail and a positive attitude. Must possess excellent writing, editing, oral communication, and research skills. Must have a reliable computer and internet to complete work. Previous technical writing and WordPress web editing experience is preferred, but not required.

Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment.
