  • Reporting to the Senior Director of Client Experiences and Strategic Initiatives, develop and lead the Division of Information Technology’s strategies for communications, marketing, branding, and training; anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs and issues of internal and external clients and stakeholders. Identify marketplace opportunities; perform market analysis and benchmarking.
  • Assist the Vice President of Information Technology and CIO on a variety of special initiatives and serve as the lead on a variety of projects.
  • Create, review, execute, and maintain a variety of print, electronic, and web-based communications, technical instructions, including press releases, e-mail outreach copy, newsletters, web copy and design, templates, executive correspondence, and presentations; ensure that all materials correctly convey the organizational message and image, and adhere to Stevens’ brand and style guidelines.
  • Oversee Division of Information Technology’s web (OneIT website) and social media presence.
  • Serve as division’s primary spokesperson and liaison to university relations; represent IT on university-wide committees and serve as a liaison with peer positions across Stevens on cooperative initiatives.
  • Participate and contribute during process review and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by handling unique and difficult situations/projects under minimal direction in a timely and quality manner.
  • Supports IT initiatives with a focus on the communication, training, and change management aspects.
  • Works as a member of technology project implementation teams to develop change management and communication plans. Coordinates with stakeholder departments to identify training requirements and works with subject matter experts to design and implement training programs for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Communicate changes in an explicit and easy-to-understand format.
  • This position will have a key emphasis on cybersecurity awareness communication and training.
  • Work closely with IT leadership and in the schools/centers to develop and implement outreach strategies and to ensure current and consistent communications.

*Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of communications and/or marketing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional writing and editorial experience and experience and expertise in developing strategic marketing, media/public relations, communications, and branding plans and programs.
  • Expert-level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and deliver persuasive messaging and content; strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external audiences, interacting in a friendly, open, honest, and accepting manner.
  • Must be creative with the ability to present original ideas. Must be a self-starter with the ability to function with a high level of independence. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated marketing and communications strategy development and implementation within a large organization serving a diverse population.
  • Must be able to translate complex details/ideas into relevant and understandable communications for varied and diverse audiences.
  • Must be able to work efficiently under deadlines on several projects simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and project management skills with experience leading meetings and engaging senior-level executives.
  • Strong knowledge of web and social media best practices including tools and technology. Strong familiarity with Office 365 and related collaborations tools.
  • Experience in higher education communications is preferred. Experience in an IT organization or technology company is a plus.  Benchmarking/surveying experience is a plus.
