Job Summary
Simmons University is looking for a Projects and Events Coordinator to join the Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET). Reporting to the Director, the Projects and Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of CET events, programs, and workshops. From planning and managing event logistics to implementing a marketing strategy, the Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting the CET and its impact on the Simmons community. Founded in 2012, the Center for Excellence in Teaching provides a wide array of programs and services to support Simmons's long-standing dedication to excellence in teaching. CET collaborates with and provides structured support for faculty and staff across Simmons to design engaging and effective courses and curricula; apply innovative, evidence-based teaching practices; and build collaborative, inclusive, and equitable learning communities. CET staff design programs and services to build a teaching community across disciplines, facilitate the sharing of ideas and resources, encourage collaboration, and provide a space for innovation and experimentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan logistics for CET events and programs, including but not limited to coordinating scheduling, preparing workshop materials, coordinating with external vendors, making arrangements with guest speakers, and managing assessment and attendance data;
  • Develop and implement an on-site support plan to set up and manage event logistics during events, including set up, serving as a host/greeter, proactively resolving problems before and throughout the event, and communicating progress to other CET staff;
  • Collaborate on an innovative marketing strategy for each event, including designing posters and other materials, both printed and electronic;
  • Provide on-site support for classroom observations and student focus groups, including taking notes on student comments and preparing a summary document for follow-up consultation sessions;
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the Center including managing data and records needs, ordering office supplies, completing paperwork, maintaining room reservations, and taking minutes at committee meetings;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, including providing occasional administrative or event support for the Provost's office and/or Undergraduate Program.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience, preferably in an office, non-profit, or higher education setting;
  • Previous experience planning and supporting events;
  • Familiarity with graphic design and/or creating marketing material preferred;
  • Prior experience in a public-facing role, serving as a key point of contact;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across offices and work well as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
  • Strong skills in time management, project prioritization, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required.
