Job Summary:
The Transfer Articulation Adviser is primarily responsible for the articulation of transfer credits for admissible transfer students and processing of the articulations in the Banner Student System. The Adviser also responsible for responding to enrolled transfer students' transfer credit requests. Additionally, the Adviser processes the approved transfer credits received by enrolled students via the Petition to Enroll at Another Institution (PEAI) process.

Position Purpose and Overview

The Adviser works closely with colleagues in the Study Abroad Office, CASA, and the schools and college in counseling enrolled students about their transfer courses and how those courses may or may not satisfy USF degree and departmental requirements. He or she works closely and collaboratively with colleagues within the Offices of the University Registrar, Admission, and Strategic Enrollment Management, as a whole.

The Adviser assists with the maintenance of the University's transfer credit articulation agreements with Bay Area and other California institutions. He or she provides quality control for the transfer credits of admitted students entered into the Banner Student System. The Adviser also works closely with the Academic Services and Graduation Center units of the Registrar's Office as it relates to transfer credits and their articulation.

The Adviser identifies opportunities for improvements and efficiencies in the transfer credit process. He or she also keeps up-to-date with transfer credit best practices and provides direction in this regard to the schools and college, and relevant colleagues in CASA and the Offices of the University Registrar and Admission.

Essential Position Responsibilities

Manage the articulation and entry of transfer credits for admissible transfer students. Respond to enrolled transfer students' transfer credit requests. Process the approved transfer courses enrolled students submit from other institutions via the PEAI process. Counsel and advise students on how their transfer credits may or may not satisfy degree and departmental requirements. Provide quality control check for the entry of admitted students' transfer credits into Banner. Assist with the maintenance of the University's transfer credit articulation agreements with Bay Area and other California institutions. Work closely with transfer admission colleagues to ensure timely, proper, and accurate application of admitted students' transfer credits. Serve as a training resource to colleagues in the schools and college on transfer credit best practices. Serve as an ongoing advocate for transfer students. Work closely with ITS on Banner transfer credit issues, enhancements, and upgrades, including testing of patches and fixes. Work collaboratively with school and college colleagues, identifies opportunities for improvements in the PEAI and transfer credit process. Keep current on transfer credit best practices. Document relevant procedures. Collect and analyze data in areas of responsibility; develop and present data to senior Advisers and executives. Assist in the preparations for the Grad Finale event and participates in the event. Assist in the preparation for Commencement and participates in the ceremonies. Serve as alternate to Registrar staff colleagues during periods of vacancies, vacation, and illness. Perform other duties as assigned.


The Transfer Credit Articulation Adviser reports to the Assistant University Registrar for Transfer Credit Articulation.

Requirements: education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least three years of progressive responsibility advising students - preferably of transfer credit requirements and articulation.
  • Familiarity with USF schools and college degree and curricular requirements a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively, and collegially with faculty, deans, staff, and senior administrators.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work expected.
