The individual selected for this position will be in charge of helping to set up and maintain a drought simulator facility. In addition, the selected individual will assist with field data collection and laboratory analysis related to crop physiology. This is a one year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with building a drought simulator facility and oversee maintenance after construction; install, retrieve, and remove sensors from different fields; lead and assist with field samplings; perform laboratory and greenhouse experiments for data collection (root cleaning and analysis); assist with hiring undergraduate employees and coordinating tasks for graduate student experiment needs; assist with field physiological measurements (photosynthesis); enter field and lab data into Excel spreadsheets and perform basic statistics and graphs; keep track of equipment and inventory and order supplies as needed; maintain laboratory and sampling equipment tools in good working condition.
