Overview
Established in 1981, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is the only graduate and professional school of nutrition in North America. Its mission is to improve the nutritional well-being of people worldwide through the creation of new knowledge, application and dissemination of evidence-based information and education and training of future leaders in the field.
The Friedman School Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (OAFA), which is led by the Associate Dean for Education and the Associate Dean for Faculty, fosters an environment that encourages the greatest possible professional, research, and leadership development and performance of faculty and post-doctoral scholars at the Friedman School and the highest quality educational programs for Friedman School students enabling graduates to make high impact contributions to their fields.
What You'll Do
The Faculty Affairs Administrator is a key member of the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (OAFA), providing operational and programmatic support for faculty related initiatives and daily functions. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Faculty, the Faculty Affairs Administrator is responsible for the support and management of duties in the following areas: faculty affairs operations, faculty hiring and promotions, management of faculty appointments, faculty development, and governance. The Administrator works closely with the Associate Dean for Faculty to manage the office, organize, and support faculty related projects.
- Manage and prioritize OAFA workflow to achieve the Friedman School’s strategic goals as well as the goals of the Associate Dean for Faculty and School leadership.
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate OAFA student workers, and interns working on faculty related projects and initiatives.
- Participate in budget allocation and prioritization and develop and oversee procedures for administration and monitoring of OAFA budgets.
- Develop and manage systems for collecting and reporting of data, collaborating with other School and University offices as necessary, relating to:
- Faculty demographics, appointment, performance indicators, and awards/honors.
- Academic indicators at the school and academic program levels.
- Student outcomes.
- Alumni employment.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- The following required knowledge and skills as typically acquired by completing a Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of experience working in higher education or related professions.
- High degrees of organization and detail-orientation.
- Strong ability to think strategically, set priorities and complete tasks.
- Strong ability to form working relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work independently.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
- Facility with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PeopleSoft and Qualtrics.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data and generate reports.
- Demonstrated project and program management skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information and data.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (obtained or working towards).
- Background in grants administration knowledge and experience.
