The University at Buffalo’s Genomics & Bioinformatics Core (GBC), located in the New York State Center of Excellence in
Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (CBLS), has an opening for a junior level technician.
The GBC is a university asset providing next-generation sequencing and gene expression services to both academia and industry. Along with supporting academic research, the GBC plays a critical role in UB’s economic development mission by collaborating with industry partners/clients to support their R&D needs.
The candidate should have molecular biology skills including DNA/cDNA/RNA preparation and quality control; designing and performing PCR assays, operating standard platforms used in molecular biology such as the plate reader, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, experience in sterile techniques and analytical skills.
In addition to lab bench activities, this position will help the senior technician with routine instrument maintenance, purchasing reagents and consumables, and assisting with compliance policies. Excellent computer and organizational skills are essential.
Some knowledge of next-generation sequencing is desirable.
