Position Summary

The Audiovisual Systems Engineer (AVSE) programs, designs, installs, and administers educational technologies throughout the University at Buffalo (UB) supporting the academic, administrative, and research missions of the university. The AVSE plans installations and coordinates with renovation contractors, construction design teams, and consultants.

Responsibilities Include:
    • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment and advanced projection systems used in technology enhanced spaces across all university campuses.
    • Assists in project management for the integration and installation of audiovisual systems and instructional technologies, such as direct view LED systems, classroom recording/capture, and enhanced audio technologies, to ensure that the university keeps pace with the changing needs of higher educational instructional environments.
    • Develops programming control solutions for complex audiovisual systems, configures and commissions DSP devices, and collaborates with network and server teams on the configuration and setup of instructional management server (Fusion) and XIO cloud applications.
    • The AVSE oversees the Classroom Technology Services (CTS) inventory database.

 


To be successful in this position, completion of programming course P-201 is expected or be able to complete it within six (6) months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics or a related field with 3 years of AV design and implementation experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • This position requires local travel between each university campus and off-campus. Must have the ability to demonstrate that the candidate can meet the transportation needs of this position.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, and schematics to incorporate infrastructure and media systems into new and remodel projects
  • CTS AVIXA certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience working in a highly complex higher education environment
  • CTS-D and CTS-I
  • Crestron Certified Programmer certification or be able to obtain a certified programmer certificate withing 18 months of hire.
  • Crestron Digital Media Certification-Engineer (DMC-E-4K)
  • BiAmp TesiraForte certification
  • Dante certification

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to identify colors used for standard wire coding
  • Occasionally ascends and descends a ladder to install and/or repair A/V equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
