POSITION PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all aspects of the graduate student financing process at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMU). The advisor will counsel students on financial matters relating to the cost of attending RMU. The advisor will direct students to payment options to include federal, state, and private loans. This position requires the individual to provide a high level of customer service by working closely with others in the financial aid department, enrollment management, and the finance office to ensure prospective and continuing students have a complete and comprehensive understanding of the institution, cost of attending RMU and how to pay for their graduate education.
1. Student Support
- Counsel students on available funding options
- Maintain and update student files
- Verify completeness of student files
- Provide a generic overview of financial aid programs available to qualifying students
- Provide referrals to RMU’s School Certifying Official (SCO)/Veterans Benefits Coordinator
- Provide referrals to RMU’s Scholarship/Grants Coordinator
- Guide students through financial aid paperwork to completion
- Counsel students on all matters related to financing their education as it relates to enrollment, satisfactory academic progress, etc., so that students maintain their federal aid
2. Other Functions and Responsibilities
- Communicate with applicants/students via email, Zoom/video conference, and or phone
- Direct students to proper offices for information when applicable
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of RMU as it relates to admissions, academic advising, registrar, financial aid, finance, and enrollment management so that students are directed to subject matter experts as appropriate
- Communicate effectively with all department personnel as needed
- Understand the importance of adhering to all Department of Education regulations
- Other duties as assigned: may perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
|
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Preferred 2+ years current experience working in a progressive financial aid office or similar office. Must have/willingness to obtain, if employed, Fundamentals of Title IV Administration Certificate.

Required Knowledge:
|
Demonstrated high technical competence with Google Suite products. Preferred experience with COD and NSLDS. Research skills and internet-savvy
|
Experience Required:
|
A minimum of two years’ experience in higher education financial aid with and educational institution or similar experience (i.e., financial lending, counseling, budgeting, public relations, computer technology)
|
Skills and Abilities:
|
Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of students and learn and understand federal and state regulations and financial aid procedures
Creative problem solver, contributes to the ongoing improvement of work processes, including learning and integrating new technology
Strong oral and written communication skills
Responsible, organized, attentive to details, and demonstrates initiative.
