Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Office of Undergraduate Research is currently recruiting for a Business Manager who will provide financial oversight and grant management for the office and supervision of student employees.
Responsibilities include the following:
Oversee all departmental accounts including:
tracking of financial activity
completing day-to-day purchases and related reports
analyzing any discrepancies, over-expenditures, and financial trends
developing and implementing policies and procedures for purchasing and reviewing expenditures and the overall operational budget of the department
supporting the Director of Undergraduate Research in annual preparation of budget allocation proposal, and coordinating proposals for revenue stream with the Associate Director and Director of Undergraduate Research and the Office of Philanthropy
Manage and oversee all aspects of the grant administration process through the award life cycle including but not limited to:
processing of awards, purchases, and payments
ensuring compliance with all university, state, and federal regulations
maintaining individual grant budget files for 50+ grant awards per year
communicating with student teams and their advisors regarding grant fund expenditures
managing the procurement of all research equipment and supplies for each of the grant awards
Provide monthly and as-needed financial reports to include end-of-month budget reconciliation, budget projections, grant allocations and expenditures, and other reports as needed.
The Business Manager will assist the Associate Director in the hiring, training, and supervising all student assistants to ensure the Office of Undergraduate Research is adequately staffed at all times. The Business Manager will develop and implement policies, procedures, and schedules related to the student assistants’ day-to-day tasks under the supervision of the Associate Director.
Assist in the coordination and implementation of all department events as needed.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business-related field and at least two years of budget management and oversight experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently to handle multiple, complex tasks
Ability to prioritize ongoing and new work assignments
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with multiple audiences including students, faculty and administrators, and other staff members
Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
Ability to relate well to and motivate students
Experience with Campus Solutions/PeopleSoft or Oracle system
Knowledge of ERAU’s polices and procedures
