JOB SUMMARY

The Data Analyst will focus on understanding, extracting, and analyzing data to solve campus partners business problems and help build a culture of data-driven decision making. This includes conducting full project lifecycle analysis (requirements, data compiling, modeling, visualization, and presentation) with a vast number of campus partners. Report creation is also an area of focus for this position utilizing stagnant and interactive reporting tools. This position offers great opportunity to grow and explore new tools and be part of an evolving data and analytics environment at the University!



The incumbent must have proven data analytics experience utilizing data methodologies and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness in a business. This requires a strong partnership with business partners and stakeholders to identify opportunities to utilize data through predictive and prescriptive analytics. This role needs an individual with strong technical skills, curiosity to learn new business processes, passion for continuous learning, great communication and customer service skills, as well as strong attention to detail.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Analytics – Explore, understand, and interpret data using statistical techniques that cover all four main analytical areas . Use data and storytelling to grow an environment of data-driven decision making. Assist in the exploration and implementation of new and existing data analytic tools and techniques that will improve the data environment at the University and help toward the goals of ITS at large. Ensure all analytical processes and methods are documented thoroughly and approached in a systematic vs manual way.

2. Data, Reporting, and Visualization: Ensure top data management strategies are being used for high data consistency, transparency, and quality. Validate data and results with fellow team members. Complete reporting and visualizations in collaboration with projects in the pipeline and the needs of our clients. Assist in the exploration of expanding our interactive and self-service reporting and visualization tools.

3. Partnership/Customer Service: Provide top customer service and be a trusting partner in working to solve University business problems using data, analytics, and reporting. Collaborate with other members of the Registrar, Enterprise Data & Services team and ITS at large to ensure customers receive information necessary to complete their tasks and achieve their yearly goals.

4. Teamwork: Serve as a resource and backup for other members of the office, contribute to ongoing office activities through data extraction and troubleshooting. Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Data, Analytics, and Reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Software Engineering, or related field
Three (3) years of professional experience with data analysis, reporting, or data management
Proven experience utilizing data methodologies and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness in a business through data exploration, extraction, analysis, or management
Experience with SQL or a similar kind of programming language
Preferred Qualifications

Completed or pursuing Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics or related field
Knowledge of: Oracle based environment, statistical tools (Python, R, Excel, etc.), Machine Learning/Deep Learning techniques, AWS methodologies and offerings (Data storage, Containers, Instance spin-ups, etc.)
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
