Math and Statistics Program Philosophy
We believe all students have the right to learn mathematics and statistics. We partner with students in setting scaffolded learning goals by providing tools, strategies and opportunities for them to meet their aspirations. We create high quality, high touch collaborative service models that are peer centered and designed to meet students where they are. Our goal is to create a learning community that is judgment-free, positive, and motivational.
Moreover, we engage students in an iterative learning process that entails reflection, consistent engagement with course material and a refinement of their learning strategies and praxis. Our approach recognizes the power of peer collaboration which bolsters self-efficacy; agency and opportunities for peers to co-labor while making meaning of course material together.
