As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University’s Ancilla College seeks a general maintenance technician in the Department of campus operations. 
 
Working closely with the Manager of Campus Operations, the general maintenance technician promotes Marian University’s Ancilla College Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing maintenance services as nodded and/ or assigned: assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities: addressing immediate operational and or safety concerns; and ensuring that tools materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Performs repairs on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Examples are ballast replacement switch replacement, coil cleaning unclog sinks and toilets, etc.
  • Performs repairs to interior and exterior finishes. Examples are ceiling tile or floor tile replacement carpet repair, painting, glass replacement cabinet repair, bookshelves repair or replacement, bulletin board repair or replacement wall repair, door repair or replacement railing and partition repair, etc.
  • Performs inspections and repairs to exterior (roof, roof drains down spouts caulking tuck pointing etc.)
  • Helps with all setups and teardowns.
  • Maintains ground equipment.
  • Maintains janitorial equipment.
  • Snow removal
  • Employees must follow all University and department rules, regulations policies and procedures.
  • Attending all department training sessions.
  • Employees must perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University’s Ancilla College
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hand, handle or feel objects and tools, crouch or crawl and talk/hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must routinely lift up to 35 pounds’ occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team environment yet also highly motivated with an ability to work independently.
  • After hours support as requested in coordination with Marian University, identifies necessary preventive maintenance projects and assists in the development of project budgets.
