Security Officer (Job S#318)

Position:  Security Officer (3 Positions)                                                      
Department:  Police/Security

Status:  Full time

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Provides basic security and protection of persons on campus and on university property
Observe and report unsafe or suspicious conditions on campus
Assist higher level officers on response to incidents regarding campus safety and security
Court or judicial appearances as required relating to campus matters
Provides directions and assistance to campus constituents
Provides security and safeguard to campus facilities
Maintains communications contact with TUPD to provide response to service calls and assistance
Completes required reports and forms
Attends internal and external training and meetings as assigned
Monitor alarm and surveillance systems; including response
Performs other related duties as assigned
Must be able to pass a Firearms Safety Course (dept. may arm officers during emergency situations)


Must be 21 years of age or older
High School Diploma from an accredited institution or GED
Must be able to complete Psychological, physical and drug screening processes
Must be able to work to work rotating shifts
Must have a valid Alabama Drivers License
Must possess a valid Alabama Pistol Permit
Ability to administer first aid or CPR

Working Conditions

Job requires exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations
Job requires standing, sitting and some lifting

Commensurate with education, training, and experience
