Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Prefer a master’s degree in education, transportation, or related field and 5 years of experience developing and administering educational and/or workforce development programs; excellent computer skills; excellent writing and presentation skills.

Primary Purpose of Position
Provides administrative support to the Director of the Transportation Institute and the management of sponsored programs and activities of this interdisciplinary research unit. Coordinates financial and contract activity in the Transportation Institute. Serves in the Director’s absence; recommends policy changes for internal operations. Supervises student research assistants, program scholars, work-study students, and support staff assigned to the unit.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Transportation Institute is an interdisciplinary research, training, and technology transfer unit, which draws faculty, staff and students from a number of different departments within the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics and the University. The Transportation Institute is responsible for programmatic and fiscal management of sponsored transportation programs within the University. The activities of the Institute include soliciting extramural funding, conducting research, coordinating faculty development and student enrichment programs, providing technical assistance, undertaking public service projects, and administering other programs in the area of transportation. Student enrichment opportunities include field trips, conferences, seminars, internships, and job placement. The Transportation Institute functions as a national and regional center for government and industry, offering publications, seminars, workshops, and lectures for transportation practitioners, decision-makers, and the general public.
