The Alabama Cooperative Extension System; Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resources program, is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a Regional Extension Agent (REA) position in the North Alabama Region. The Regional Extension Agent (REA) will serve the Farm and Agribusiness Management Team. The REA will be expected to develop an emphasis and expertise in farm management and economic decision making. In relation to the broader context of farm and agribusiness management, competencies are expected to be developed in financial management including record keeping, accounting, financial analysis, risk management, and the application of economic principles to crop and livestock production.
The REA will be the first point of contact for farm and agribusiness educational programming in SET 1 and SET 2 and will be housed in an ACES/Experiment Station facility. The REA will utilize all available/emerging technologies to provide clients with solutions-based educational programming through meetings, workshops, publications, web sites, and other outreach techniques. Program audiences include farmers, farm families, land owners, agricultural businesses, cooperatives, farm organizations, commodity groups, and mass media.
In addition, the REA will be part of a statewide Extension Priority Program Team and be expected to participate as a team member to plan, promote, and execute statewide team programs as well as participate in statewide team training opportunities. This includes participation in writing grants and in activities that support applied research/demonstrations beneficial to clientele. Participating in regional and state associations, and other groups, is important for the REA to develop a reputation as an educational leader with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The REA will also assist the team leader and administrators in program evaluation and impact reporting.
