Residential Life is inviting applications for an Area Coordinator (AC) for Governors Complex. In this unique live-off position, you will find a collaborative, team environment that offers professional development and leadership experience. The Governors Complex is comprised of a set of four residence halls housing approximately 800 first-year students. Through the supervision of three Graduate Assistants (Assistant Hall Directors) and 24-30 Paraprofessional Staff Members, the AC fosters a clean, safe, positive, and inclusive community environment that encourages students to develop their full potential.
Your duties include:
Provide direct supervision of 3 Graduate Assistants (Assistant Hall Directors), 24-30 Paraprofessional staff members, and an Office Manager.
Manage the daily administrative operation of a suite-style residence hall of approximately 800 students.
Provide leadership for the development and implementation of area educational plans, paying special attention to the population of primarily first-year students.
Meet with students in violation of Campus Living and university rules, adjudicate cases, and assign sanctions to students.
Participate in the rotating "on-duty" system with other senior staff, providing guidance using the departmental protocol in response to emergencies on evenings and weekends, and during periods when the university is closed.
This position includes educational, supervisory, and administrative functions that promote student engagement, academic success, personal development, and a strong sense of community through the implementation of the residential curriculum. Bachelor’s degree with one year of full-time experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Development, Counseling, Education, or related field
One to three years of full-time experience in residence hall or university administration.
