Departmental Overview

The University of California Women's Volleyball club team prides itself on a winning tradition on and off the court. Cal is part of the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League, featuring local rivals Cal Poly, Santa Clara University, University of San Francisco, and Stanford University. Each year the team competes in the NCCVL league and at the NCVF National Championships, and has finished top-ranked in the country several times.

Responsibilities

The assistant coach will be responsible for attending practices, running drills, traveling to games and tournaments.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Attending bi-weekly weekday practices
Running well-structured practices
Analyzing performance and instructing athletes in skills, techniques, and strategies in preparation for and during competition
Assisting with travel logistics
Attending all competitions (includes local weekend and travel to regional/national tournaments)
Keeping contact with players and club officers
Complying with NCCVL, NCVF, UC Berkeley and Cal Sport Clubs regulations
Maintaining a professional and positive presence in the volleyball community

Required Qualifications

Proven record of competitive volleyball coaching experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with college-age athletes.
Knowledge of current coaching techniques/strategies.
Ability to establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student-athletes.
Successful background-check clearance.
Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification (Must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
A minimum of one-year coaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of previous club coaching experience (high school level or above)

Salary & Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for UC benefits plan.

Other Information

This is a part-time, contract appointment ending 5/31/2020. Opportunity for contract extension.
