Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Bachelor’s degree with directly related compensation experience including salary survey submissions, market data analysis, HRIS reporting, salary structure administration, FLSA classifications and position salary analysis. Proficient with analytical and statistical tools and PC programs related experience in compensation or an equivalent level of education, training and experience. Advanced spreadsheet proficiency to manipulate, interpret, analyze and present data. Ability to gauge effectiveness of the organization’s total rewards program and translate data into solutions to continually improve programs and practices. Experience working in fast-paced, team-oriented environment with quickly shifting priorities. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations. Demonstrated excellence in communications and strong listening skills. Strong customer service orientation and sense of integrity. Excellent analytical, organizational and consultative skills. Strong collaboration, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain discretion and the highest ethical and professional standards while dealing with confidential and sensitive data. Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deliver challenging messages in a positive and influential manner. Experience performing regression analysis, and developing and maintaining compensation models. Proficiency with data analysis tools. Experience gathering structured data from
technology applications and data warehouses. Experience with large relational databases, data warehousing and data marts. Supervisory or management experience. Relevant HR certification (CCP, CBP, PHR, SPHR or SHRM). Experience in higher education.

Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) is enhancing our human resources service delivery model with an emphasis on quality, highly responsive human resources service delivery to managers and employees. The Department of Human Resources at N.C. A&T is seeking a dynamic and accomplished human resources professional to lead the total rewards function for the university. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, the Compensation Manager provides leadership and manages the design, development, implementation and maintenance of compensation and classification policies and programs to increase employee engagement and enable strategic success. In partnership with HR and University leadership, the incumbent administers pay structures, analyzes, and recommends compensation and workforce planning to ensure system sustainability and effectiveness. The Compensation Manager will serve as a consultant and subject matter expert to university leadership.
